Sassanid Empire ruled the area from around 3rd century to 7th century, when Islam was introduced in the area due to the reign of Umayyad Caliphate. In 1833, Dubai became a separate Sheikhdom and in 1966, this place discovered oil. It was this discovery that helped Dubai to establish as a modern, vibrant and business-centred city. Further, the place is also often referred to as the Hong Kong of the Middle East.

Culture

The cosmopolitan culture of Dubai will let you experience a new world, once you get in here. There has been a huge influence of Arab and Islamic culture on the culture of UAE and its cuisine, music, lifestyle, architecture and attire. Muslims living all around the country are called to prayer, five times in a day, from the minarets of mosques. Further, the culture of this place is a perfect blend of lavishness, luxury, opulence and leisure-related extravagance. This is quite evident with the futuristic architecture of Dubai that is often described as having ornamental features and technology.
