History

Ajmer city was founded by Maharaja Ajaipal in 7TH century. Back then the city was known as ‘Ajaimeru” which means ‘the invincible hill’s. In 1193, the city was ruled by Afgan ruler Mohammed Ghori who defeated the last Hindu ruler, Prithviraj Chauhan. Ajmer was ruled by many rulers. In 1556 the famous Mughal Emperor, Akbar the great built a province. After the mughals, the city went in the hands of Marathas. In 1818 under British reign, many academic institute and colleges were formed for Rajput prince.
